In one minute or less, what is a favorite movie of yours and what is one of the themes from that movie that stands out to you? What is an area you feel stuck or stalled in (maybe the wheels are rusted) right now -spiritually, relationally, or purpose-wise? Have you ever felt passion for something but didn’t know what to do with it? What did that feel like? Did anyone help you fan it into flame? Or was it met with doubt? Have you ever been in Jann’s dad’s shoes - meaning well but struggling to support someone’s passion? What can you learn from that experience? Who in your life has either “fanned your flame” or did what they could to put it out (even if they were well-meaning)? How did they do it? What impact did that make on you? Is there a gift or calling you’ve neglected because it’s hard or uncomfortable? What might it look like to give yourself more fully to it this season?Do you associate God’s calling with ease - or with being stretched? How do you tend to respond when a dream or gift feels harder than you expected?How does serving within a church help you learn to live your giftedness out and what is the impact of this? If you have not yet found a role, what is a step you can take today to move in that direction? Have you had a “crash moment” in life - something painful that felt like it might disqualify you? How might God use that experience now to comfort or help someone else? In the sermon Eric quoted 2 Timothy 1:7, which says, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.” What truth in this verse can be helpful to you right where are right now? Why is it helpful to memorize and think on verses like this one?
