DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
"Faithfulness"

Choose the questions for your group; no pressure to use all of them.

Start Off

  • Eric compared church to a swimming pool where everyone is at different stages, spiritually: jumping in, cautiously re-entering, swimming confidently, or hanging back with questions. Which “pool picture” best describes your current spiritual season and why?
  • Who is someone you would describe as faithful or dependable? What makes them trustworthy?

Reflect on God’s Word

  • Read Matthew 25:14-30. What stood out to you most from Eric's message or these verses?
  • In the parable, what differences do you notice between the first two servants and the third servant?
  • What do you think Jesus was trying to teach about faithfulness through this story?
  • Read Colossians 3:23–24. How would your daily responsibilities change if you truly viewed them as assignments from God?
  • Which verse encouraged you more, and why?

    Go Deeper

    • Eric said we’ve all been on “the receiving end of a broken promise” and “the promising end of a broken promise.” Which of those resonates more with you right now, and why?
    • Why do you think faithfulness (being dependable, steadfast, and trustworthy) is difficult?
    • Eric talked about “holy interruptions.” How do you usually respond when unexpected needs interrupt your plans?
    • What is one specific area where you want to grow in faithfulness and step into whatever God has entrusted you with this week? Resources, Relationships, Position or influence, Time, Conversations, Circumstances, Other?

    Pray

    • Pray for one another to recognize what God has entrusted to each person, rely on God’s strength instead of personal effort, and become more faithful in everyday life.
    • You may also use this closing prayer : “God of faithfulness, by the power of the Holy Spirit, fill us with your faithfulness, so that it will overflow out of us each day and every way in the week ahead. Amen.”

VERSE TO MEDITATE ON AND MEMORIZE THIS WEEK

The Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you. (2 Thessalonians 3:3, NLT)

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE (BETWEEN MEETINGS)

Day 1 – Identify What’s Been Entrusted to You

    Read: Matthew 25:14–15

Reflect: What “keys” has God placed in your hands right now? Consider your relationships, job, influence, gifts, responsibilities, or opportunities.

Practice: Write down 3–5 things you believe God has entrusted to you in this season.

Prayer: “God, help me recognize what you’ve placed in my care.”

Day 2 – Be Faithful in Small Things

    Read: Luke 16:10

Reflect: Jesus values faithfulness in small assignments, not just big moments.

Practice: Choose one simple responsibility today and do it with excellence, integrity, and consistency.

Prayer: “Lord, help me honor you in the ordinary things today.”

Day 3 – Respond to Holy Interruptions

    Read: Galatians 6:9–10

Reflect: Sometimes faithfulness looks like being available when interruptions come.

Practice: Pay attention to one unexpected conversation, need, or opportunity today and respond with patience and care instead of frustration.

Prayer: “God, make me attentive to people you place in front of me.”

    Day 4 – Depend on God’s Strength

    Read: 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Reflect: Faithfulness is not powered by willpower alone; God strengthens us.

Practice: When you feel overwhelmed today, pause and pray before reacting or pushing harder.

Prayer: “Lord, you are faithful. Strengthen me for what you’ve called me to do.”

    Day 5 – Rest in God’s Faithfulness

    Read: 2 Timothy 2:13

Reflect: Even when we fail, God remains faithful. His grace invites us back into relationship and growth.

Practice: Spend time thanking God for specific ways he has been faithful in your life.

Prayer: “Thank you, God, for never abandoning me and for continuing to shape faithfulness in me.”
