- Share about the influence a mentor had or has in your life? Have you been a mentor to someone? If so, what has that experience been like?
- Ryan gave some details about the 7 Living Generations. Which generation are you a part of? Which generation do you struggle to relate to the most and why?
- Read Titus 2:1-6. What are some observations about Paul’s instructions to Titus about being generationally diverse? Did anything stand out to you that challenges you based on your stage of life? Are any of his instructions confusing or surprising?
- Within each generation there is room to fall for the idea that you have all the answers and that everyone needs to listen to them. Ryan calls this generational arrogance. Is there a time in your life where you have experienced generational arrogance? Do you have the posture of a life-long learner looking to learn from people of all ages? Why is this challenging?
- Ryan shared that it takes humility to get this multi-generation thing right. Do you agree? Where do you see generational tension in culture today? Why is it tough for generations to see value in each other?
- Which of the characteristics that Paul mentions do you think you are living into well? Which do you have some room to grow in? Who can help keep you accountable to grow in this area?
- Read Romans 12:3-8. How does this passage relate to Titus 2:1-6? What is the most significant takeaway for you from the Romans verses?
Next Steps
Don’t let the conversation end here. Pair up this week (if you are in a couples group, we suggest pairing men with men and women with women) and commit to asking questions like: How are you being a learner this week? Which characteristic are you living into this week? Which one are you struggling with? Did you have an opportunity to show humility while interacting with someone in a different generation than you? What a great opportunity we have to help each other grow and take some next steps. Let’s all commit to helping one another this week.
