Wanting the World To Know: Jamie's Baptism Story

My name is Jamie Wildridge. My family and I attend the Woodbridge Campus of Chase Oaks, where we've been going for about a year now. I talked to my husband about really feeling led to get baptized. You know, I was in full surrender to God and that was the part I wanted the world to know. We went to church and heard that they were getting ready to do a baptism service in April.

I was able to meet with some of the Woodbridge staff and made the decision to follow through and get baptized. And for me, getting baptized not only was showing the world, “Hey, I stand for God,” it was that I've had so many feelings of being abandoned in my past. But the one that matters most was I am chosen by him—so much that he paid the ultimate cost for us, because I was worth it to him, even with him knowing everything that would get me to this point.

I am justified. I am sanctified. I am forgiven. But again, the biggest thing is just knowing I am his.

So, when I got baptized, for me, not only was it showing everyone that, “Hey, this is the decision I've made,” but it was as I went under the water, all those lies stayed under there with me. And when I came up out of the water (as my husband baptized me), I was going into the truths and I am resting soundly in those.

And that's who I am: who God says I am.
