Chalk Attacks: Using Chalk to Fight Fear With Faith

Our family is always trying to find ways to thank the teachers and staff at our kids’ school. One of the most meaningful ways is when we “chalk attack” the sidewalks with positive messages and pretty pictures. We’ve been doing these chalk attacks for years, but it seems now that COVID-19 has affected the world, the effort is much more meaningful. More people are out walking on the neighborhood trails. More people are hungrier for soul food.

This is a movement, a mission, and a ministry with the intent to encourage and spur one another on. We want to encourage people near schools and neighborhoods, retailers, fitness centers, tattoo parlors, grocery stores, home improvement stores, and more. I envision chalk attacks covering sidewalks at college campuses, office parks, playgrounds, neighbors’ driveways, nightclubs, coffee shops, and many, many more places. It's positive and makes people smile. We want to remind people that Jesus loves them. Prayer is powerful; God's Word is the sword of the Spirit. We can't win if we don't fight, and we want to fight fear with faith.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
In a few weeks, we've received hundreds of messages from people who are joining in and sharing their work or who saw a chalk attack while out and about and shared it on their social media. We hope more people will see the power behind this movement and join together for God’s glory as we use chalk attacks to fight fear with faith.
